Snow Pants

We had the first real snow of winter on January 6, 2025 in Mechanicsburg, PA and I have to say - for me…it was a magical day :). It started with Chester the fox (yes - I have names for various critters in my life :) showing up basically in my back yard, early in the morning.  But by the time I grabbed my coat and boots, he had already headed on his way.  But it indicated to me…it could be the start of a fun and magical day to take pictures.  As I went about my day…I kept an eye out for any animal activity.

At one point, early afternoon, I saw Chester making his way from the woods out into the field…no doubt looking for lunch.  I figured eventually he would be making his way back across the field to head home to his den in the woods.  So I geared up in all my warmest things (not only had it snowed…but it was very cold and windy), grabbed my camera and headed out back to wait for the fox to appear.  While I was waiting…out of nowhere…a bald eagle showed up.  It literally seemed to fall from the sky.  At first, I wasn’t even sure what it was.  It happened so fast…then I realized….it was a bald eagle.  He kind of circled a little and then landed gracefully not too far from me.  He looked around a bit…and then…gave me a stare down that I will never forget.  It only lasted for a moment…but long enough that I was able to snap a quick shot.

Just as quickly as he came….he flew off again.  I looked around almost to see if anyone else had seen what I did.  Of course no one else was there which made me thankful I had my camera to document that it actually did happen.

I have named this photo “SNOW PANTS”….because to me, it looks as though he is wearing some groovy black snow pants :).  And I have named him George :)!

The Universe is so full of surprises and I have so much gratitude for this moment in nature that brought me pure joy.

Here’s hoping George brings you a smile today :)!!
